Marceline Finda

A Research Scientist at Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) in Tanzania, and a postdoctoral fellow at University of California – San Diego (UCSD) in California, USA. Marceline has been at IHI since 2015, working on several projects to investigate the interactions between malaria vectors and humans, to develop and test alternative tools for malaria control, and to explore stakeholders’ opinions and recommendations for alternative tools for malaria control and elimination. At UCSD, she has been working on an NIH-funded project that aims to develop a framework for meaningful stakeholder engagement in informing decisions on gene drive technologies development, research and deployment. She holds a PhD in Public Health from University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa (September 2021); Master of Public Health from Tulane University, USA (2014); and a BSc in Biochemistry from Western Washington University (WA, USA) in 2010. Her PhD research, funded by CARTA, focused on exploring awareness and perceptions of alternative technologies for malaria control and elimination among key stakeholders in Tanzania.
