Celestin Banamawa

Celestin is an environmental Health scientist holding a Master’s Degree in Biodiversity Conservation Sciences from the National University of Rwanda. He holds a Bachelor of Biotechnology Sciences and Advanced Diploma in Biomedical Laboratory Sciences. He worked at the National University of Rwanda as an assistant laboratory technician from 2007 until 2014. He has attended different trainings in and out of the country on water, food, and soil quality testing. Additionally, he participated in developing methods of analysis for traditional medicinal plants and ISO 17025 “Good laboratory practice” in Liege and Leuven Universities, Belgium and Tanzania respectively. Celestin is currently a lecturer at the University of Rwanda, School of Public Health in Environmental Health Sciences. In 2017, he joined the CARTA program as PhD fellow and enrolled at Makerere University, School of Public Health, Disease Control and Environmental Health Department. He is pursuing research on Ecological sanitation Technology and Excreta management in Rwanda.His interest is in Ecology focusing on the human environment, sanitation and waste management as well as health-related issues such as excreta microbes and Infection Prevention and Control (IPC).
