Alice Muhayimana

Muhayimana Alice is a Rwandan Registered Nurse/Midwife and Assistant Lecturer at the University of Rwanda. In 2018, Alice has graduated from Moi University/Kenya with Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a specialization in Maternal and Neonatal Health. In 2010, Alice earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the former Kigali Health Institute. From July 2010, she started to teach at the University of Rwanda, School of Nursing and Midwifery (SoNM) as a tutorial Assistant, later in 2018 promoted to Assistant Lecturer up to date. In addition, Alice also has been the coordinator of international and local partnership at the School level for 3 years (from January 2017 to December 2019). At the working place, her main responsibility is leadership, teaching, conducting community outreach and participating in research activities. Alice has attended different pieces of training, conferences and has been participating in different research activities as well as community outreaches. Currently, Alice has 10 publications and has presented in international conferences like in 6th EMA education conference held in Malmo/Sweden Alice has successfully completed online training in MOOC on Implementation Research (IR) with a focus on Infectious Diseases of Poverty (IDP). Alice successful attended Gender-Based Analysis for Vector-Borne Diseases and the climate change online short course offered by Wits University. In her research, she is mainly focusing on the elimination of gender violence and the promotion of health equity for all. In the SoNM, Alice has developed partnership visibility with renowned international Universities. Alice has a certificate in LEAP ( leadership and partnership). From the last couple of years (2018-2019), Alice has been appointed by the College as Co-Investigator in the innovative project between UR and Artevelde University of Applied Sciences/Ghent/ Belgium. Alice provided technical support in RBC (Rwanda Biomedical Center) and in the National Council of Nurses and Midwives (NCNM). Alice has attended an interactive course on Expanded Program of Immunization incorporated with Integrated Management of Childhood illness (EPI/ IMCI) organized by WHO, thereafter she facilitates and train health centres managers, Maternal Child Health (MCH) supervisors and representative of the district health units at Eastern and Southern provinces in Rwanda. Alice is a member of the community outreach committee at SoNM. Alice facilitates students groups and educational seminars, and collaborates on multidisciplinary teams and proven ability to build positive relationships with students, health care providers school Management, the Rwandan community and other professionals. Alice successfully supervised Masters students, she participates in teaching research methods, maternal and neonatal related modules. She is an active member of national and international associations of Nurses and Midwives.
