About Nanfizat Abiket Alamukii
Abiket is a first Class (Hon) graduate and Scholar of the University of Ibadan with a Master’s degree in Zoology (Cell biology and Genetics). She is currently a PhD student and a Teaching Assistant at the Department of Zoology, Cell Biology and Genetics programme at the University of Ibadan. She has capabilities have been advanced while working as a PhD Research fellow at Institute for Advantage Medical Research and Training (IAMRAT), UCH, University of Ibadan. These skills include writing of project thesis in both her undergraduate and post graduate programmes; writing of research proposals and articles for grants and publications; and laboratory research techniques such as extraction of DNA, use of Nano Drop spectrophotometry, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), DNA sequencing and Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (RFLP), Bioinformatics etc. Her area of research is on the Genetics of Breast Cancer among Nigerian population with a proposed PhD topic titled, “Breast Cancer Screening Practices among Nigerian Women and the possible use of the genetic variations in Pro-Inflammatory Cytokines as a potential Cancer Risk Monitoring Tool”. her future research plans include genetic risk factors and molecular epidemiology of breast cancer with additional focus on cervical and ovarian cancer in women in Africa.
